CLOVIS -- An elderly man was hit over the head and robbed at gunpoint in the early morning hours in his driveway.

Clovis police were called to the 2000 block of Stone Place in Clovis, after David Shober, 82, was struck on the head with a pistol and his wallet taken from him.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5 feet 11 inches, wearing a multicolored beanie and a bandana covering his face. There was a confrontation and the suspect struck Shober in the head, took the wallet and fled the scene on foot.

Clovis police began searching for the suspect, finding a tire marks in a nearby alley. The wallet was later found near the intersection of 14th street and Sycamore by officers.

An undisclosed amount of cash was missing from the wallet. It was not reported if any credit cards or identifications were taken.

The suspect has not been located in the area and the incident is still under investigation.
