AMARILLO, TEXAS -- For more than thirty years, local philanthropist Eveline Rivers has kept thousands of panhandle kids warm through her annual coat drive in conjunction with the Eveline Rivers Christmas Project (another venture where she provides Christmas presents for kids in need). Each year, Pronews 7 teams up with Eveline to help gather donations to outfit kids across our area with winter wear.

Children in need pick out a coat, gloves and scarf of their liking and they get it all for free. Eveline says there is a real need in our community and she expects more than 3,000 kids to show up at this year's coat giveaway. "Sometimes that coat is used in an unheated house, so this coat is extremely important to these children," Eveline said.

Many panhandle children will be outfitted for the cold months ahead thanks to donations from our Pronews 7 viewers. And, there's still time to donate, just drop off a new or gently used coat at the Pronews 7 studios in downtown Amarillo or at Ashley Furniture, this year's sponsor.
