AMARILLO, TEXAS -- AAA Texas reports that the average gas price statewide is $3.17 per gallon. This price is lower than the national average which currently sits at $3.29 per gallon after prices dropped two cents.

Amarillo gas prices are significantly lower than the state average. Motorists can expect to pay an average of $3.00 according to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report.

El Paso has the least expensive gas prices, averaging about $2.96 per gallon. While the most expensive gas can be found in Dallas where prices average about $3.20 per gallon.

The average price per gallon for the state is up from what the price was a month ago, but it is five cents cheaper than the average price per gallon was a year ago in the state.

AAA said there is an ample supply of inventory in most parts of the United State despite crude oil prices trading in a narrow range in the beginning of 2012.
