One killed in Monday night crash

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Monday night Amarillo Police responded the a wreck in the 400 block of North Pierce Street.

When police arrived at the location, they found that a 4-door Mitsubishi struck the Second Baptist Church sign.

According to a news release from Amarillo Police Department, the vehicle had two occupants at the time of the crash.

19-year-old Christy Denise Gomez was driving the vehicle, she was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her passenger Cory Dominic Espinoza, 24, died at the scene due to injuries from the accident.

Amarillo Police Department's Traffic Investigation Squad is investigating the crash.
