AMARILLO, TEXAS -- House Appropriations Committee Democrats have released a report that indicates Pantex will be affected by potential across the board spending cuts that will take place March 1st unless agreement occurs between Congress and the Administration.
They said Pantex will furlough up to 2500 employees for three weeks.
However, Congressman Henry Cuellar of Texas, a Democrat, said the cuts are not certain but are potential if $85 Billion is slashed from fiscal year 2013.
The sequestration occurs as a remnant of last year’s fiscal cliff negotiations.
Area Congressman Mac Thornberry said if the cuts do come about, Defense will take a big hit and Pantex could be part of that.
