AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Amarillo police were dispatched to the 2800 block of Porter Street on a robbery call.

The 85-year-old homeowner was home at the time of the robbery and told police that he heard some strange noises while getting ready on Monday morning. He told police that he went to the closet to retrieve a belt and when he opened the door a man was standing inside.

The male suspect then punched the homeowner and grabbed his car keys and took the vehicle and other belongings from the residence.

According to a news release, police were able to determine that the suspect had broken a window to gain access into the home.

The suspect is described as a man about 5'7" and weighs approximately 165 pounds. According to the homeowner he was wearing a ski mask and black jacket.

Police later recovered the stolen vehicle in an alley in the 500 block of north Buchanan Street.
