AMARILLO, TEXAS -- According to AAA Fuel Gauge Report the average price per gallon remains at a steady $3.50, despite rumors of lower prices to come.
AAA reports that the $3.50 per gallon price tag is below the national average of $3.78 per gallon.
AAA said the rising cost of crude oil was a factor in the increase of prices but the surge is more from refinery issues. The group also said that the maintenance schedule and switch to summer-blend gasoline is happening earlier than last year with a more dramatic effect.
The highest gas prices in the state can be found in Dallas, where the average price is $3.58 per gallon. Motorists in El Paso are paying the least amount at the pump with an average price of $3.48 per gallon.
