AMARILLO, TEXAS -- UPDATE: The structure fire in the 600 block of south Lake Street was ruled as an arson by the Amarillo Fire Department. Three juvenile suspects were detained in connection with the fire and two seperate dumpster fires. The juvenile suspects have been placed in custody at the Youth Center of the High Plains.

Thursday evening at approximately 5:40 p.m. Amarillo Firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in the 600 block of south Lake Street.

The building was a single family house which was empty. According to AFD the fire appears to have started in a back bedroom on the first floor of the house.

AFD was able to contain the fire to the building where the fire started. AFD estimates the property damage at $10,000.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
