AMARILLO -- ProNews 7 was the first to report that Bell Helicopter was looking at laying off about five percent of their employees.
We have learned Thursday that as part of the overall reduction and realignment, less than a half a dozen of the Bell Helicopter employees in Amarillo were impacted by the lay-offs this week.
There was no reduction in force in terms of factory manufacturing personnel.
Bell helicopter will continue to look at initiatives leading to more cost effective aircraft, that's the word from Roger Williams, executive director and site leader for Bell Helicopter Amarillo.
The company said the reductions were being made in order to "better align the organizational structure with strategies for future growth."
The Bell Helicopter plant in Amarillo has a major hand in assembling the V-22 aircraft and employs about 900 people.
