CLOVIS, N.M. -- The man once described as one of the most wanted men in America is finally headed to court.
Noe Torres, accused of killing a sleeping 10-year-old boy in Clovis back in 2005, is slated to face murder trial early next year.
New Mexico's Ninth Judicial District Attorney's Office said Torres will face trial for murder starting on January 28, 2013.
He is also set to face trial on December 6 for a charge of firearm by a felon, the District Attorney's Office said.
It was on Sept. 15, 2005, when authorities said Torres along with three other people shot nine bullets into an apartment window in Clovis. Investigators said the shots were fired after someone walked up to the apartment's back window.
10-year-old Carlos Perez was killed from one of the bullets. He died the day before his 11th birthday.
According to police back in 2005, the shooting happened after an argument that took place between two Clovis High School students, Orlando Salas and Ruben Perez.
Carlos was Ruben's younger brother who was sleeping.
Torres remained on the run until January of 2012 when he was captured in Mexico.
