PORTALES, N.M. -- A 23-year-old Portales man was arrested early Wednesday morning on drug charges. Police said further investigation on child pornography charges is ongoing.

The Portales Police Department, along with the Roosevelt County Sheriff's Department, the Curry County Sheriff's Department and the Clovis Police Department served a search warrant on a home in the 600 block of South Avenue D on Wednesday morning.

Police said the warrant was based on information received from the New Mexico Attorney General's Office Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce.

Portales Police Chief Doug Jones said the search warrant resulted in the arrest of 23-year-old Robert Hawkins. He was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia.

Investigators said numerous electronic devices were located and seized that were used to possess and distribute child pornography.

The child pornography case remains under investigation and further charges are expected, police said.
