Amarillo Police investigate armed bank robbery

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Amarillo Police are investigating an armed robbery.

At approximately 12:40 p.m. Monday afternoon. Amarillo Police responded to an emergency call from Wells Fargo Bank in the 2000 block of South Washington.

According to bank employees a man approached the teller line of the bank and demanded all of the money in the drawer.

He pointed a semiautomatic handgun at the teller while making his demands, employees said.

The suspect was given an undisclosed amount of money and exited the building. He is described as a white male in his late 20s. 5'8" with light colored hair and slim face. He was last seen wearing a dark coat or jacket with a light blue hoodie.

There was no getaway vehicle seen or heard.

The robbery is still under investigation.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Amarillo Police Department at 378-3038 or call Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 374-4400. Tips can also be submitted online at amapolice.org.
