AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Amarillo Police Department is investigating an incident in which shots were fired Saturday afternoon near the Holiday Inn at I-40 and Ross.

Sgt. Brent Barbee says around 2:00 p.m. police had stopped a black vehicle near the motel and had the male suspect in custody. That's when a female, known to the male, stole one of the Holiday Inn's vans. Sgt. Barbee says she began to circle around the parking lot, hitting a police patrol car, a gas meter, and another vehicle in the motel's parking lot.

That's when she headed toward police officers, fearing she would hit them, the police officers fired shots.

"The driver ducked, the officers were than able to approach the van and take her into custody. None of the officers were injured, no one was injured. We don't have any witnesses injured, or anything like that. No one has been booked into jail," said Sgt. Barbee.

No charges have been filed against the two suspects. Right now police are still investigating the scene and trying to piece together exactly what happened.
