CHILDRESS, TEXAS -- Friday morning a Department of Public Safety trooper made a routine traffic stop just west of Childress in Childress County.

A Chevrolet pickup was traveling west on U.S. Highway 287 when the trooper stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation.

According to a news release from the Department of Public Safety, the driver was identified as 25-year-old Sean Didonato of Santa Cruz, Calif.

Didonato was traveling with Caitlin Leedle, 23, during the stop when the DPS Trooper detected a strong marijuana odor.

A K-9 unit assisted during the stop and upon further investigation a Trooper discovered the money in several pieces of luggage.

Both Didonato and Leedle were arrested and booked into the Childress Jail. They were arrested for money laundering.

The money was allegedly being transferred from Florida to Santa Cruz, Calif.
