Sunday marks the 46th Anniversary of the Assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Kennedy was shot while traveling through dallas on a ten-mile motorcade through the streets of downtown.
At 12:30 p.m., it's believed Lee Harvey Oswald fired three shots from the sixth floor of a nearby building. He was pronounced dead 30 minutes later at Parkland Hospital.
We talked to people in Amarillo to see what they remembered from that day. "I was walking into the classroom, and uh, people said, "he's been shot!" "he's been shot!" said John Blackburn.
"Everyone was very quiet, and kinda in a state of shock, it was hard to believe because we'd never experienced anything like that and some kids cried, mostly it was very quiet and thoughtful, uh, kids not knowing how to react or how to think about it," said Loretta Osenbaugh, who was in 7th grade at the time.
About two hours later, Lyndon Johnson was sworn in as president. The next day, President Johnson issued his first proclamation, declaring November 25 a day of national mourning for the slain president.
