OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma health officials say a proposal that would allow cities and towns to restrict smoking will be the state health department's top priority when the Legislature meets next year.

Cities and towns are now prohibited from passing tougher smoking restrictions than what's in state law. A similar measure died in a state Senate committee earlier this year.

The Oklahoma Board of Health met Tuesday and discussed its legislative priorities for the upcoming session.

A recent report from the Centers for Disease Control singled out Oklahoma City and Tulsa for not having indoor smoking bans.
