Traffic stop nets $400,000 in meth

CONWAY, TEXAS -- More than 4,000 grams of methamphetamine was seized during a traffic stop on Interstate-40 two miles east of Conway on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

According to DPS, a Trooper stopped a 2007 Ford pickup that was traveling east on I-40 for driving on improved shoulder and having a child unrestrained in the vehicle.

Consent to search the vehicle was granted and nine vacuum-sealed bags of methamphetamine. The bags were found inside the vehicle's muffler.

The driver of the vehicle, 22-year-old Martha H. Hernandez and passenger 22-year-old Jazmin Lozano-Rojas were arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, a first degree felony.

DPS said the couple was transporting the drugs from Phoenix to Oklahoma City.
