AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Amarillo National Bank is joining the fight against computer hackers by increasing their security efforts.

"Modern day cyber crime, identity theft, is becoming a business. Just like we get up every morning and put our clothes on to go to work, the cyber criminals are doing exactly the same thing", says ANB Data Security specialist, Bill Davis.

Cyber criminals aren't just going after your money. They are now going after personal information, such as social security numbers, birth dates, and addresses.

ANB is monitoring customers' account around the clock to ensure data security.

"Here at ANB we have a detailed security program, we have fraud monitoring for all of our accounts. All of our staff is trained on fraud. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, our systems are constantly monitored and reviewed for fraud", says Davis.

He also says ANB customers should be confident their accounts aren't being compromised. "Every transaction is monitored, every visit to our website is monitored, all the systems we take precautionary steps but we also test them constantly for possible data breach".

As technology advances, data security officers are noticing new trends in online crime. Hackers gather information to make "blended threats". They are collecting pieces of information over time, then using all components gathered to attack a person's account or personal identity.

They're also targeting social media's younger users for access to secure information, says Davis. "With the advent of social media becoming more prevalent for everyone, don't trust connections or website addresses inside that medium".
