AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Monday was full of Memorial Day ceremonies in Amarillo. Many attended an annual Memorial Day Commemoration service at Memory Gardens Cemetery Monday afternoon to remember and honor all fallen veterans, those still serving and their families.

The ceremony began at 2:45 p.m. and opened with the posting of the colors, which was followed by a "Moment of Remembrance". The moment of silence was brought to a stirring close right at three o'clock as a dual flyover passed over the cemetery. After the flyover and keynote address, given by Retired USAF General Robert Dempsey, there was a final call for veterans who passed away in 2011 through this Memorial Day and are buried at Memory Gardens.

"We're currently in Canyon so this is our home cemetery, so we try to do our honors here," said Jr. Vice Commander of Post 430 in Canyon. "That's why we're here, to honor them. Thank you isn't enough, that's why we come here to the cemetery to honor these fallen victims, fallen heros."

The service concluded with a bagpipe rendition of "Amazing Grace", a 21 Gun Salute and "Taps".
