At Pronews 7 we love to tell good news. That's why we jumped at the chance to hop on board the Texas Panhandle Honor Flight. Stories of bravery and valor are often told, but what about the love stories that pulled the soldiers through tough times. Sylvia and Gene Barton met during a vacation in Mexico city and have been in love ever since. Gene had just completed his service in the U.S. Navy and needed some R&R. He got that, and a wife!
Art & Geri Hulsey met at the Nat Ballroom in Amarillo, TX at a teenage dance. Geri flipped a coin with her best girlfriend to see who would get the chance to take Art on the dance floor. She won the coin toss and Art's heart.
Art sat down at the Navy memorial in Washington D.C to recall his feelings about the first time they met.
"I fell in love with this girl the first time I saw her. I was knock of the porch fall down in love with her and I wasn't going to let her get away, and I still got her!"
Both Navy Soldiers admitted it was their love that pulled them through tough times and deployments. They all look forward to the golden years ahead.
