Authorities are now being aided by one organization that has been credited with bringing many fugitives to justice, america's most wanted. They have convicted murderer Edward Salas on the front page of their website, and will be featuring all of the escapees this week. Curry County District Attorney, Matt Chandler told us, “We in law enforcement contacted America's Most Wanted, America's Most Wanted was very gracious to provide assistance in this. There are hundreds of thousands of hits on this website everyday, and America's Most Wanted has been credited to assisting many law enforcement agencies as you know every week in finding fugitives, and so we believe their assistance is going to be very helpful to us. Rumors of jail employees involvement in the escape have been reported, and it is being looked into very closely by a team of investigators, but authorities aren’t releasing very much information on the case just yet, as Curry County Sheriff Matt Murray said, “A team has been established to answer you question, to investigate any criminal misconduct that was committed by any employees of the detention center. At this time the investigation is ongoing and that's all I'm gonna comment on it.”
Officials also told us today that Raynaldo Enriquez, who was captured Monday in Lubbock, has waived extradition, and once that is completed he will be taken to New Mexico to face the charges stemming from the escape. He and all the escapees are facing escape from jail, conspiracy, and criminal damage charges. Salas will be facing a more sever charge of escape from a penitentiary since he was awaiting transport to the New Mexico department of corrections.
