Tuesday's historic presidential election was a victory for those who, some say, never thought they'd see the day.
Here in the Panhandle, the same thoughts surround members of Amarillo's NAACP chapter.
President Floyd Anthony said Barack Obama's win is an opportunity to meet the challenges of this new century and to pass the torch to the next generation of Americans - white, black, or Hispanic.
"I didn't think this day would be this soon," said Anthony, "but it's wonderful, and I think it's a fitting tribute to this nation. I think it's a reality for all minorities and females."
Anthony said it's also a win for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his message to never stop following your dream.
