SANTA FE, MN (AP) -- The New Mexico Transportation Department says there are difficult driving conditions throughout northern New Mexico.
Heavy snow was reported in the Chama area, with road crews plowing N.M. 17.
Ice and snowpacked spots were reported on N.M. 4 from San Ysidro to Los Alamos and throughout the Los Alamos area; U.S. 550 from San Ysidro to Lybrook; Interstate 40 between Moriarty and Clines Corners; Interstate 25 from La Bajada to Santa Fe and roads throughout the Santa Fe area; U.S. 285 from Tres Piedras to the Colorado line; and U.S. 84 between Santa Fe and Espanola.
Difficult conditions also are reported on roads in the Gallup, Grants, Cuba, Penasco and Taos areas.
A winter storm warning is in effect for the northern and western mountains, the Four Corners region and the upper Rio Grande Valley through late Tuesday night and could be extended into Wednesday night.
Winter weather advisories are in effect for the central and southwest mountains, the Estancia Valley and the northeast highlands.
