SAN ANTONIO, TX (AP) -- San Antonio police are recommending that one of their own face a manslaughter charge in the traffic death of a fellow officer.
Officer Robert Davis died two weeks ago after being struck by a patrol car driven by Officer David Seaton. Davis had been clearing road flares.
Seaton was on his way to a shoplifting call in his cruiser when he hit another car. The collision caused Seaton's cruiser to spin out of control and pin Davis underneath.
San Antonio police spokesman Joe Rios says investigators now believe Seaton ran a red light and did not have his flashing lights on at the time of the collision.
Traffic investigators forwarded the case to the district attorney's office and have recommended a manslaughter charge against Seaton.
The 46-year-old was critically injured in the accident and remains at a rehab facility.
