Big crowd cheers for Obama
CANYON, TEXAS -- Even here in the panhandle, there were plenty of watch parties going on today. West Texas A&M hosted one of them for any student who wanted to watch the history unfold. The atmosphere at the university was similar to what was being felt across the nation, it was filled with excitement. You could see the students really getting behind this history making event. Two big screen televisions were put up in the box on campus so the students could enjoy the prestigious occasion. Many of them waved flags and cheered every moment. Some students think that this is a story they can pass on to future generations.
"Listening to my mom talk about Dr.King and the civil rights movement is very moving to me, and now I have something to go and tell my children about because i was able to see Barack Obama," Lauren Johnson said.
A W.T. advisor told me she thought she'd never see this day arrive, but her younger brother believed he would. and that just shows you one of the differences between the generations.
