Amarillo Police officer injured after being hit by a car.
AMARILLO -- An Amarillo police officer leaving the scene of a traffic stop was injured Friday night when he was hit by a van.
The accident happened around 8:30pm in the 3900 block of Bell Street.
A motorcycle officer was pulling away from a traffic stop, when a green van pulled out off of Puckett and collided with the officer, police said.
The officer, who has not been identified, was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital where he is awake and alert, said Sergeant Brent Barbee.
The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
