HUNTSVILLE, TEXAS (AP) -- Texas has executed its sixth death row inmate this year.

David Martinez was convicted of using a baseball bat to bludgeon his girlfriend and her teenage son to death almost 15 years ago was put to death by lethal injection last night in the state death chamber.

Martinez was executed last night for killing 37-year-old Carolina Prado and 14-year-old Erik Prado at their San Antonio home in 1994.

As the drugs began taking effect, he mouthed, "I'm sorry. I truly am." He was pronounced dead at 6:18 p.m.

Martinez, known as "Snoopy" and "Bam Bam," had a lengthy juvenile criminal history in the Rio Grande Valley. It began at age 13 when authorities said he broke into a neighbor's house and stole her panties.

Two more executions are set for next week in Texas.
