AMARILLO, TEXAS (AP) -- An Amarillo mother of an abused and malnourished 3-year-old boy remained jailed Saturday in connection with her son's death.

26-year-old Diane Louis Fuentes-Aguilar, and her 18-year-old boyfriend, Alan Alexander Adame, were arrested Thursday night in an abandoned trailer.

Both were charged with injury to a child in the Tuesday death of Fuentes-Aguilar's 3-year-old son, Miracuelos Fuentes.

Fuentes-Aguilar and Adame were being held at the Potter County Jail in lieu of a $1 million bond each.

Jail records did not show if either had an attorney.

Police say the boy died shortly after being rushed to a hospital Tuesday morning.

Preliminary autopsy results concluded that Miracuelos, who had bruises all over his body and appeared to be malnourished, died of "acute abuse," the Amarillo Globe-News reported.

Fuentes-Aguilar's seven other children, who range in age from 1 to 11, were placed in state care.

Texas Children and Family Services investigators have been to Fuentes-Aguilar's home several times in the last eight years.

But nearly all the previous allegations against her were abandoned because of lack of evidence.
