PAMPA, TEXAS -- The Department of Public Safety said Talina Welch, 30, Kayla Dorsey, 18, Akhyla Williams, 2 months of age, and Daven D'won Daniels, 2, all of Amarillo were killed as a result of a traffic crash located 4 miles West of Pampa on U.S. 60.
Welch was the driver of a 2001 Chevrolet Surburban on Wednesday when a distraction in the vehicle caused her to veer off the roadway and skid into oncoming traffic.
That's when the vehicle was struck by a tractor towing a semi-trailer.
Welch, Dorsey, and Williams were pronounced dead at the scene.
Daniels and Hirshal Green, 5, were transported by Life Star to Northwest Texas Hospital, where troopers said Daniels was pronounced dead.
Green is currently listed in stable condition.
The driver of the truck tractor was treated and released from the Pampa Regional Hospital.
The infant was in her safety seat when the accident occurred, but the other occupants of the suburban were not wearing their safety belts, troopers said.
