BELTON, TEXAS (AP) -- A fake ID sting targeting underage drinkers in Bell County led to 17 arrests at bars.

Operation Fake Out was held over the weekend in conjunction with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.

TABC Sgt. Victor Kuykendoll says the operation was months in the planning, in an investigation that included the cooperation of the businesses.

Undercover officers visited about a dozen bars and nightclubs in Killeen and Harker Heights.

Other arrests included one person for offering a fake military ID, three people charged with public intoxication and one person charged for possession of illegal drugs.
