Should be back to normal soon
AMARILLO, TEXAS (AP) -- All 84 Ospreys in Iraq were temporarily grounded recently after it was discovered that some bolts had come loose.
The bolts in question help control the prop rotors of the aircraft. A spokesman for the navy said that it's a temporary grounding and that it was issued as a precaution. The spokesman added, that the birds were not affected during air operations. Officials say while it's still not clear what caused the problem, they are doing an investigation. We contacted Bell Helicopter, they said they are working closely with their government customers to address the precautionary inspections.
So far, 77 of the V-22s have been inspected, seven more are waiting for inspection while 75 are already back in normal flight. Two more are still being repaired, they are hoping to have everything back to normal very soon.
