Chase from Carson County to Dumas highway

AMARILLO, TEXAS --  A late night car chase led officers all the way from Carson County to the outskirts of Amarillo Wednesday night. According to Carson County Sheriff Tam Terry, the pursuit started in Carson County just after 10 p.m.

The driver Steven Allen Lockshin refused to pull over on 1-40 in Carson County and continued to head west. The Panhandle Police Department joined in the chase and as Lockshin neared Amarillo, the Department of Public Safety and the Amarillo Police also joined. Spike strips were used to blow out all four tires of the car Lockshin was driving, but he still refused to stop.

Terry says the use of the new Texas Law One radio system allowed all officers involved to have open communication to ensure a safe end to the pursuit. The chase, which involved over 20 law enforcement units, end on the Dumas Highway near the Oak Drive exit.

Lockshin will likely be charged with resisting arrest, and evading police with a motor vehicle, which is a state jail felony.
