AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Texas Panhandle Chapter, American Red Cross is among 128 chapters nationwide to receive disaster response capacity building funds from the Wal-Mart Foundation. The chapter received $30,265 to improve disaster response in the 13 counties of the Northwest Panhandle.
Purchases for cots, blankets, improved communication equipment and volunteer disaster response trainings are planned over the next several months. The chapter has been working closely with local governments and Emergency Response personnel in outlying communities to build volunteer Disaster Action Teams.
