Could power junior high

PAMPA, TEXAS -- While the Texas Panhandle winds can be destructive at times, one area school district is seeing if those winds can save them money.

The Pampa Independent School District is looking into the idea of using wind turbines to power a new junior high school being built. The superintendent told Pronews 7 that Pampa leaders have been talking with people in Shallowater, who already have a similar program in place. The school board now has to decide whether the payout would be beneficial. The board did approve putting the right conduit under the pavement, so if they do decide to go forward with the project, they won't have to tear up any roads.
