AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Federal stimulus dollars are making their way into the pockets of Texas consumers.

The funds started working their way through the system the last week of March. Food stamps increased $38.00, jobless benefits increased $25.00 a week and people should find $13.00 more in their average paycheck. Amarillo CPA, Mike Connor, said it works out to a credit of $400.00 per individual or $800.00 per married couple. Conner also said that you might not get it right away, "if you have the type of income that's not subject to withholding, such as self-employment income or something like that, you still get the credit, but you're gonna have to wait to get it when you file your 2009 tax return."

When asked about the wisdom behind the credits, Connor added that it "only makes sense, it's the people's money, we ought to let them use it as they see fit."
