TUCUMCARI, N.M. (AP) - Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque and Mesalands Community College have agreed to work together on wind energy research at the Tucumcari college.
The memorandum of understanding signed Tuesday is the first of its kind between a national laboratory and a two-year college.
Sandia will do research at the college's North American Wind Research and Training Center, which trains wind energy technicians and wind farm managers in maintenance and safety issues.
The college and the lab expect collaborative efforts in turbine operations and maintenance, reliability of turbine components and repair methods and other research.
The college says the arrangement will allow a blend of its wind center's programs with Sandia's wind energy technology department.
