Panhandle Plains Historical Museum hosted a weekend of events and an exhibit about Woody Guthrie
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- So Long It's Been Good to Know You Woody Guthrie in Pampa, a new exhibit out at the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum informs visitors about the historical impact of Guthrie in American history as well as telling his story.
This weekend the PPHM, hosted events featuring local musicians influenced by Guthrie, and presentations by Guthrie's family.
"Woody Guthrie has really influenced a lot of music since his time up until now, and even artists today, punk rock, folk, bluegrass even are still recording his music that he didn't get a chance to record himself and so this symposium has really brought to light all of these things that Woody Guthrie talked about, the working man, the economy that are really things that are pertinent for today," said Andrea Porter, Communications Coordinator, PPHM.
Monday, the museum will host a film screening of "A Man in the Sand" and also an intimate and interactive conversation with Guthrie's daughter Nora.
The exhibit will be up until the end of July.
