Money received from Valero Settlement
DUMAS, TEXAS (AP) -- The Dumas School Board is talking about how they are going to spend over $5 million.
The school district received the money as part of a legal settlement from Valero. School officials said they are looking at doing much needed repair to buildings across the district. From replacing air conditioning units to adding new energy efficient lights, it's all being considered. The board expects the meeting to last well into Monday night, be sure to check back Tuesday for updates.
The Moore County Appraisal District had been in a legal dispute with Valero since 2002. At that time, Valero disagreed with the appraised value of their facility in Moore County. As part of that settlement, the county received a check for $7.5 million of which over $5 million went to the school district.
