Money will help in planning process
AMARILLO, TEXAS (AP) -- The Amarillo Economic Development Corporation approved a $50,000 grant at their meeting today, the money will go towards the planning process for a wind farm near the Pantex Plant.
The Office of Technology Commercialization and Texas Tech University requested assistance from the Amarillo EDC to help in development of the wind energy project in the Texas Panhandle. The funding approved today by the EDC will be matched by other partners and accelerate the development of the wind farm project and potential related research projects. The EDC said the funding will ultimately enhance their ability to recruit wind energy component manufacturers to the region.
TTU in collaboration with Pantex and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and other national organization is working to implement the goals of the Energy Policy Act to meet the country's renewable energy needs in the future.
