Local GM dealers give their perspective on the company's bankruptcy
AMARILLO,TEXAS -- We've watched the corporate melt-down of GM, but what does that mean for our local dealers?
We asked local GM dealers how bankruptcy on the corporate level will affect them, and the consensus was, not much.
Greg Lair of Buick GMC told Pronews Seven that for consumers, it will mean better prices, from a more competitive industry.
Lair said all warranties and services on all of his vehicles, and on Saturn's, will be honored.
"This ought to be very transparent for the customer," Lair said, "all it means is they're getting all their ducks in a row, their cost down, to where they can build a better leaner company and with that they will build a better product."
Lair's only concern, is inventory.
"I think they're going to be very low especially on trucks, SUV's you know some of the car lines," Lair said, "yeah I think they're going to be very low I mean they're closing a lot of plants. We're taking a lot of extra inventory but we're still going to be low."
We also spoke with Charles Cooksey of Brown Pontiac who says that the filing has been widely anticipated, and he doesn't expect his customers, or his employees to be affected by it.
