BEAUMONT, TEXAS (AP) -- Two workers at a pain management clinic in Port Arthur have pleaded guilty in a nearly $5 million health care fraud case.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says 37-year-old Ashley Colin Walkes of Houston pleaded guilty Wednesday in Beaumont to misprision of health care fraud.
Walkes, with no medical training, managed the facility.
A 30-year-old Bridge City woman, Kristi Rose, pleaded guilty Tuesday to conversion of health care benefit program funds.
Rose was office manager at Medic Management PA, which closed in January.
Prosecutors say Medic Management was fraudulently paid more than $4.3 million by Medicaid.
Medicare and Blue Cross Blue Shield paid nearly $585,000.
Walkes, who must repay more than $4.9 million, faces up to three years in prison.
Rose could get one year.
No sentencing dates were immediately set.
