LAWTON, Okla. (AP) - A man who escaped from a Texas jail has been arrested in Oklahoma after authorities say he crashed a stolen car while leading deputies on a chase near Lawton.
Comanche County sheriff's deputies arrested 43-year-old Mark Edward Rhoads Wednesday.
Authorities say deputies spotted the stolen car and after a short chase it crashed. They say Rhoads got out and ran away but was later found hiding in bushes.
Rhoads had escaped Sunday from the Brown County Jail in Brownwood, Texas, where he was being held on burglary and larceny charges. Officials say he was a trusty and walked away after taking out trash and lowering flags outside the jail.
He's currently being held in the Comanche County jail for Texas authorities and on Oklahoma burglary charges.
