Made from a bleached $10, rather than a $5
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Chalk another counterfeit bill up to the already more than $4,000 worth of fake money the Amarillo Police Department has brought in.
This weekend another counterfeit $100 was discovered in Amarillo, but this time instead of being made from a $5 bill, it was made from a $10.
Corporal Jerry Neufeld of APD says to check your bills!
"Probably the most important thing to look at is the bottom right hand corner of a new $100 it will say "100" in green coloring and depending on if you change the different angles it'll change color, or appear to change colors if it's a photocopy." Neufeld said, "it will always be green."
Neufeld also says that APD is working closely with local Secret Service, and businesses, to try and stop the fraud
"We're working closely with our Secret Service Agents, forwarding all of our information to them," Nuefeld said, "we're still trying to track down different leads. We're assisting them they're assisting us and we're hoping to come up with something soon."
