AISD approves budget for next fiscal year
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Amarillo Independent School Board met in a special session today, to finalize and approve their budget for the upcoming year.
The budget was approved, and is going to be the same cost to taxpayers as last year's budget--but this year, thanks to the Federal Government's Stimulus, teachers in AISD will be getting at least a 3 percent raise,if not more.and the district is getting close to $200 per student.
A number, which is a bit more than other districts.
"Those that had low target revenues are getting a little bit more to try to improve the equity of the system and AISD is one of those that will be getting a little more because we were so far down on the list under the old target revenue system." Superintendent Rod Schroder said.
Te district will be getting some extra money for students, again from the government totaling about $200 per student
Teachers are also getting some help.
"What we did was in this budget was basically passed two separate plans the lower plan was what was passed in this budget." Schroder said, "and if the federal government tells our state's government that it's okay to mandate a raise, the degree they did them, we will increase teacher pay accordingly."
