Nearly 30,000 ecstasy tablets found during traffic stop

POTTER COUNTY, TEXAS -- Texas Highway Patrol troopers seize nearly 30,000 tablets of ecstasy during a traffic stop in Potter County over the weekend.

Saturday afternoon at 4:09 pm, a trooper working I-40 in Potter County stopped a vehicle for speeding.

According to troopers, the driver was identified as 18-year-old Tam Minh Vu of Ft. Worth, Texas.

A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Jeffery Vu Hoang 22, of Euless, Texas.

The pair was traveling from Los Angeles, California to Ft. Worth, Texas.

During the traffic stop the Trooper could smell an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicles interior.

The Trooper then conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle 16.2 lbs of ecstasy hidden inside a speaker box located inside the trunk.

Both occupants were placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance and booked into the Potter County jail.

The drugs were valued at $ 509,915.
