Pictorial history book to commemorate 100 years.
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- To commemorate the Amarillo Globe-News' one hundred years, it's putting together a picture coffee table book, and it wants your help. It's going to be a book of Amarillo through your eyes and the eyes of many historic front pages.
They're looking for photos taken in the panhandle between 1900 and the 1950's. It can be your old family photos, or even a business that has lasted until today.
They want to hear your story and put into the book; Then they'll scan them, restore them, and put them in a hard-cover sewn book.
"we do have family memories going back generations, but beyond that, that's certainly an appeal, but I think what we have found the books have done across the country, people are just into these old photos. I mean to look at a baseball team that was playing here in Amarillo in 1912 - I mean, that's pretty cool," said Brad Fenison, the Pediment Publishing President.
If have photos and want to tell your story, drop by the globe news offices on Thursday, July 9th between three and six or on Saturday, July 11th, between 10 and two pm.
