AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Driving over the railroad tracks at 3rd and Grand may be the best solution to the traffic problems.
On Tuesday, The Texas Department of Transportation presented their proposal to the Amarillo City Commission to add an overpass to avoid the tracks at the intersection.
After a meeting with the public last month, TxDOT officials said it was the most reasonable and most affordable way to solve the traffic problem.
The project will cost $11 million, and as of right now they only have $7 1/2 million.
TxDOT officials said they will work with the City of Amarillo to come up with the rest of the money.
A public meeting to talk about the plan is scheduled on July 27th.
