TUCUMCARI, NEW MEXICO -- Results of an investigation into the tasing of a teenager by the Tucumcari Chief of Police will be revealed to City Commissioners this evening, but those results may never be made public.
Pronews seven made a Freedom of Information Act request to view the report, but we were denied due to an exception to the inspection of public records or memorandums that are matters of opinion in personnel files.
We also spoke to the City Manager Bobbye Rose who says it's an ongoing investigation and a personnel matter, but that they would need to consult an attorney's opinion on whether or not to release the results of the private investigation.
Rose did say that there are no plans to make any decisions about punishment or plans to reinstate Chief Roger Hatcher.
The Quay County Sun reported that the investigation was to determine if Hatcher used excessive force when he tased a 14 year-old girl earlier this month.
