AMARILLO, TEXAS -- When the list of Randall county indictments came out today, there were several people on it who had charges relating to the sexual assault of a child or injury to a child.

We wanted to know what's causing that disturbing increase? Is it that these incidents really are occurring more often?

Or is is because more people are reporting it now? We posed that question to Randall County DA James Farren.

"We're seeing more reporting because we've educated children in our culture to the fact that you can tell, you can trust the police, the doctors, and prosecutors to. if you come forward and tell they'll do the right thing and put a stop to it," said Farren.

The special prosecution unit, which has been working on these cases in Randall county, said 20 percent of all the cases they work on involve some type of child abuse.
