New Texas law gives each city the choice of enforcing this new law or not

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- No Cell phones in school zones, unless your using a hands free device. That is the new Texas state law that will go into effect this September. However, each city or municipality has the option of enforcing this law or not.

The city of Amarillo as of now will not enforce this law, but the cities of Pampa and Borger will be enforcing it along with providing the necessary warning signs for drivers. The communities of Dumas, Hereford, Canyon, and Childress are either still deciding or have the item on a future city council agenda, and plan on deciding soon.

If you want to know if this applies to your community, check in with your city hall, county officials or police department.
